So the Boa Constrictor song is something Luke has been pretty afraid of since the very first time he heard Mrs. Brookhyser introduce it at the Colorado Lagoon Playgroup. And, you know, it really is kind of a weird, scary song, but every other kid Loves it....here are the words:
Oh Luke is being swallowed by a Boa constrictor!(3x)And he likes it very much!
Oh no! oh no! It swallowed his toes, swallowed his toes!
Oh gee! oh gee! It's up to his knees, up to his knees!
Oh fiddle! oh fiddle! It ate his middle, ate his middle!
Oh heck! Oh heck! It's up to his neck, up to his neck!
Oh dread! Oh dread! It gulped his head, gulped his head!
Then Mrs. Brookhyser would wait for the kid (Luke) to hiccup and the snake spits out the child...
First he would just bite his nails and look down when the song was sang, but for about the last year and a half, he has been so nervous about it that he would go to the way back of the room, turning away from everyone, with his ears plugged and eyes closed, whenever another student chose it from the song box (and NO WAY would Luke ever choose it for himself). But today, on the last day of preschool, Luke chose the Boa Constrictor song out of the song box....
I am so proud! This is such a HUGE milestone for Luke and I was there to witness it!!
Look how proud of himself he is!
